Dr. Andrew Fenwick joins the Multi-Pure team!
Multi-Pure is very excited to present to you our new Director of Laboratory Services, Dr. Andrew Fenwick! Dr. Ken Smith recently retired as our former Director and we wish him well in his new life of leisure!
Dr. Fenwick will now direct the operations of the laboratory and quality assurance groups and act as the primary technical interface for customers and suppliers. His background is extensive and we're thrilled to have him join our team. He shared with me that he likes working at Multi-Pure/Carbon Block Technology because "Our company can boast the technology, product performance, and focus on R&D of a big company while maintaining the flexibility, creativity, and opportunity to make a real impact of a smaller company."
You will have an opportunity to hear him speak at our 40th anniversary convention next April in Las Vegas, but before then, he will be featured in an iMeeting on July 13th, co-hosted by Zachary Rice, VP of Multi-Pure. Be sure to read our "Express to Success" emails with more information and a link to connect to the live PowerPoint presentation.
Before coming to Multi-Pure, Dr. Fenwick was Research and Development Leader for Carbo*Prill, Inc., a subsidiary of Vigo Coal Company, Inc. The crux of his responsibility there was to glean an understanding of the high reactivity of coal from a unique seam, develop a model for its performance attributes in bulk explosives, and apply this knowledge to opening additional markets for the product.
Prior to that, he worked as a Research Scientist for Prestone Products Corporation, a division of Honeywell's Consumer Products Group. His role there was to develop products for the car care industry. As part of a chemistry co-op program, he also has experience in other laboratory environments, including quality assurance (petrochemical), formulation development (agrichemical), and forensic chemistry (federal police agency).
Dr. Fenwick completed his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry at Purdue University in 2004, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. His doctoral and postdoctoral research focused on the synthesis of homogeneous titanium catalysts and their application to olefin polymerization. While pursuing his Ph.D., he completed the Applied Management Principles (AMP) program at Purdue's Krannert School of Management. This program is described as a "mini-MBA" for students pursuing advanced degrees in Science and Engineering.
Some of the many functions Dr. Fenwick will work on here at Multi-Pure include:
• Direct the operations of the laboratory to ensure reduction testing is done to industry standards
• Hire and train laboratory staff in analytical techniques and quality assurance practices needed for the laboratory’s operation
• Hire and train the quality assurance staff to maintain the quality standards required by customers
• Interface with customers and suppliers in defining and applying product specifications, and designing testing protocols that lead to product certification by industry standards
• Interface with all departments within the company to maintain the corporate quality program
• Maintain internal product specification database
• Develop raw material specifications in concert with suppliers
• Develop product specifications and quality control plans as required by customers
Welcome, Dr. Fenwick!
