Multi-Pure and Magnesium

Magnesium
Magnesium

The World Health Organization (WHO) has just recommended that drinking water contain 25-50 mg of magnesium (Mg) per liter to prevent deaths from heart attack and stroke.

I've been hearing a lot in the news lately about the important role magnesium plays in the human body. Doctors and other health-care providers have been interviewed on the radio and TV quite a bit, and their concerns about the lack of Mg in the American diet are warranted.

American bottled water contains about 5 mg of Mg per liter, well below the 20 mg/l in the rest of the world’s bottled water.

The Magnesium Online Library and Adobe Springs Water Company have issued a petition for redress of grievances to US Attorney General Eric Holder and FDA Food Czar Michael Taylor. The petition alleges that the FDA and US Department of Justice “caused the Mg-deficient-water problem by destroying the American mineral water industry in the 1930s, in the mistaken belief that ‘pure’ water was good, and that mineral water was just impure water.”

The petition requests that the Mg content of bottled or canned beverages be put in labels’ nutrition panels and that all bottled or canned beverages be required to contain at least 25 mg of Mg per liter, the release stated.

Foods no longer contain as much magnesium as they did a century ago, due to increased processing and possible soil depletion. Interestingly enough, recent studies clearly confirm that water-born Mg is far better in preventing cardiovascular pathologies than food-borne Mg!

Ok, now do you want to hear the GREAT news? While Multi-Pure drinking water systems reduce the widest range of harmful contaminants, they leave helpful magnesium in the water! Just one more example why Multi-Pure filters are so terrific! Spread the word!
