Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people who are struggling with the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. The storm has created an irony: too much water and not enough water. Flooding has spread over multiple states in the midwest. Power outages have idled pumping stations, cutting off the water supply to many residents. Tidal surges and flooding have contaminated water lines with bacteria and other contaminants, compromising all of the drinking water in the region.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has sent over a million bottles of water to the areas most affected, as well as 2.2 million meals, almost a million tons of ice, and 80,000 tarps.
